ASMCF PG Prize Results
We are delighted to announce the results of the 'ASMCF Postgraduate Prize'. The quality of all postgraduate papers was extremely high, and receipt of these awards is therefore especially commendable.
The winner is Ciara Gorman at Queen’s University Belfast, for her presentation ‘Obstruction of Justice: Disruptive Victim-Villains in Contemporary French Crime Fiction’.
The runner-up is Stéphanie Proulx at Université de Toronto, for her presentation ‘“Je n’en peux plus” : représentations subversives de la proche aidante’.

Beth Kearney, University of Queensland, ‘Disrupting Norms of Exposure and Concealement in Photo-texts by Annie Ernaux and Catherine Millet’
Lili Owen Rowlands, University of Cambridge, ‘Want Women Don’t Want: the Anti-autofictional Narratives of Anne F. Garréta and Virginie Despentes’
Candidates were selected according to the following criteria:
- Originality of paper topic and content
- Engaging presentation style and delivery
- Evidence of thorough and high-quality research
- Strength and coherence of central arguments
- Rich and detailed analysis, and focused critical engagement
- Timekeeping and organisation
We are very grateful to the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France for officiating this award and for providing monetary prizes for the winner and runner-up, and to everyone involved in the selection process.
